Case Study
User Interaction Design
Mobile Applications
barBUD is an interactive mobile application that assists users in finding bars and clubs suited to their wants and needs. I completed this as a study-abroad student at Aquinicum Institute of Technology in Budapest, Hungary in 2019.
In this project, I worked with three others on the user interction of this product using Mockingbot with an iOS view platform.
Gaining an Audience
To understand what a potential user might be looking for in a social app, we conducted interviews with the expected audience: students ages 20-22. In order to gather information, we asked them to tell us what they look for in a night out with questions such as:
What does a night out look like to you (before, during, and after)?
What are your needs and wants?

First prototypes
With the information we gathered, we created a mock prototype of what our product would look like. With this, we created a second round of interviews with the same individuals using the prototype.
This allowed us to compare the information we first received and test to make sure we met the standards they set for us.

Second prototypes
With the information we gathered, we created a mock prototype of what our product would look like. With this, we created a second round of interviews with the same individuals using the prototype.
This allowed us to compare the information we first received and test to make sure we meet the standards they set for us.

Final product
After we finished conducting our research, we put our product into MockingBot for a final testing. When we had conducted a third round of interviews to ensure our product was up to the audiences' standards, our product was complete.
See below to learn how it works!

When a user presses 'new search' they will be walked through a series of categories based on their wants, needs and dealbreakers.

Results
When a user finishes inputing their preferences, they will be brought to a results page listing the qualities of places close to them.

Information
The user may select a bar they wish to go to and get more information including their qualities and hours.
